We recently carried out a Volvo S60 Brembo Brake Pad replacement. Here’s a brief description of the service process and a quick review of the car itself.
The Volvo S60
The 2013 S60 we have here is a beautiful car to look at. The S60 is designed along the lines of simplicity and funcionality. The cabin is proper Scandinavian design. A sleek center console, buttons made of quality plastics and a steering wheel that just feels right in your hands. The driving position is superb.
The diesel engine is smooth and has almost no turbo lag. The heavy but smooth steering wheel coupled with paddle shifters makes this car an absolute joy to drive.
To sum it up, the Volvo is an all rounder car.
Volvo S60 Bremo Brake Pad Replacement
The Cartisan service team arrived at the customer’s doorstep equipped with the necessary tools to carry out the service.
The technician used a hydraulic jack to lift the car up and propped stands underneath the chassis for support. He then removed the rear wheels to reveal the brake rotors and brake calipers.
Unlike its German rivals, the S60 has a more complicated system which requires a scanning tool to be used to unlock the rear brake calipers such that it can be unmounted from the brake rotors. After the technician successfully removed the brake calipers and brake pads inside it, he unmounted the brake rotor from the hub.
The technician replaced the brake rotors and pads with brand new ones from Brembo. To know more about Brembo brake components, click here. Brembo manufactures quality braking components, sometimes performing even better than stock brake components fitted to cars.
After the technician completed the installation, he lowered the S60 to the ground. The Service Engineer cranked the engine and pumped the brake pedal. He took the car out for a test drive to confirm that the installation was a success.
