2010 Volkswagen Vento TDi Clutch Replacement

Cartisan recently carried out a 2010 Volkswagen Vento TDi Clutch Replacement. The car had covered approximately 60,000kms. Based on a preliminary inspection carried out by the Cartisan Service Team, it was determined that the following parts needed replacement.

  • Clutch Plate
  • Pressure Plate
  • Release Bearing

These three components make up the clutch kit.

Once the customer approved of the quote, the Cartisan Team arrived at the customer’s location, picked up the car and took it to the nearest Cartisan Preferred Workshop.

The workshop technician parked the car in the service bay and the car was raised up with the help of a two post lift.

The bonnet was popped open and the service was underway.

2010 Volkswagen Vento Tdi Clutch Replacement Process

First, the battery and the intake air box was removed to allow the technician access to the gear box which is located towards the lower right part of the engine bay.

Next, the front wheels are removed. The tie rod ends and link rods are disconnected from the wheel hub in order to free the wheel hub. This is done so that the drive shafts can be disconnected from the gear box.

Once the drive shafts are disconnected from the gear box, the gear box bedding is removed. The gearbox bedding is an arm-like component which is connected to the gearbox at one end and the chassis of the car on the other end.

The gear box bolts are then unscrewed so that the gear box can be unmounted from the engine block.

Once the gearbox is unmounted, the clutch plate becomes visible. The clutch plate & the pressure plate is bolted to the flywheel. The bolts are unscrewed and the clutch plate & pressure plate is unmounted.

A brand new clutch plate and pressure plate is fitted to the flywheel.

In the gear box, the release bearing is replaced with a brand new release bearing. This bearing is then connected to the clutch fork and the clutch fork is connected to the gearbox again.

The dismantled components are all bolted back into place. Once the work is completed, the car is lowered to the ground and taken for a test drive to confirm that the work was carried out successfully.
